Good morning everyone,
Just before boarding my plane yesterday, I found out that I was officially accepted into the clinical trial for a drug called RINA-S (Phase 2, Group C, non-randomized study).
In just a few hours—assuming my bloodwork looks good—I’ll be receiving the drug for the first time.
There are no pre-meds with this treatment. They simply administer it directly with two hours of observation after.
RINA-S is an antibody-drug conjugate designed to target folate receptors in cancer cells. Once the antibody attaches to the folate receptor, it delivers a chemotherapy payload directly inside the cell. (I hope I’m explaining that clearly!)
Right now, I’m sitting in the cafeteria with my sister, getting ready to begin. I’m dealing with a lot of back pain and nausea today, so I’m hoping there won’t be any issues preventing treatment.
Farber is trying to arrange a paracenticisis for me here tomorrow, Friday, before returning to Maine.
More than anything, I’m looking forward to some relief from the discomfort I’ve been experiencing.
I’ll share more updates in the coming days.
Thank you to Janet for keeping Lily company overnight! I’m so grateful! 🐶🐶🐶🙏🙏🙏
love,
Lynn ❤️
