I wish I was writing here about Lily but I got the results today on the other PET. 😣
PET shows high grade serous cervical cancer. This cancer doesn’t grow on ovaries or tubes, it grows in all the areas surrounding it.
The cancer is in my lungs, pleural cavity, lung nodules- many many, four Thorascic nodes, lymph nodes along spine. It’s also around the pelvic bowel and throughout the perineal cavity. Reproductive organs are clear.
Treatment: chemo and surgery starting with chemo ASAP
Tuesday: Biopsy done as outpatient in NYC (MSK got BCBS to fully cover!) They will insert pleurx at that time if the wait for chemo is going to be a few more weeks.
Expectancy: Without treatment is months. (Are you #%css me?)
With treatment: Possibly 3-5 years if I respond well.
Historically: The cancer usually does come back for those who go into remission, but a few people have been cured long term. Every case is unique. My good health will tip the scales somewhat.
Chemo to start asap to shrink as much as possible then surgical intervention to remove whatever isn’t responding.
