It may look a bit Top Gun or somewhat confusing, but I got through today’s treatments and the cold capping with a frosty head and I’m still here! No crying no freaking out no extreme pain. I was able to manage it I think partially because I have just been through so many procedures at such levels of discomfort and just learning how to push through.
I want to thank my dear friend Emily Muise, who was with me all day and took amazing, detailed notes on everything that was said to me and everything I went through. Thank you, Emily!
Today I received the gem chemo, and then the carbo chemo. So far so good. I’m feeling OK and expect the chemo to hit me Thursday and Friday.
Not only can I not say enough about Emily and what a tremendous support she was through the day today, but the Lafayette Center Cancer Care was outstanding. My oncologist nurse spent a good amount of time with us really explaining what to expect through chemo and then the oncology nurse, Ronnie was tremendous. There was no rush, just as much time as you needed to understand everything and have your questions answered and a vigilant watch as the chemo was being administered.
A volunteer came around with free sandwiches, cookies, munchies and drinks.
In addition, the dietitian who came by was amazing and spent almost an hour with us. I love her. She went through my medication and my diet an gave me some suggested products to order and also left me some protein based Ensure at the front desk to take home.
In addition, they have a great nonprofit that works with the cancer center that does a fresh produce and meat farm drop weekly and it’s free to anybody getting treatment at the cancer center.
Cold ❄️ capping… I made it through the first 20 minutes vigilantly watching the clock with Emily and I’m hoping my following experiences are just as manageable. One of Emily’s neighbors lent us a fluffy and lucious king size heated blanket and I was warm and cozy and it kept me from shivering.
Thank you all for your support. This site continues to be mega messed up. I hope they work out the kinks soon!!!

Love,
❤️ Lynn
